Audio files play back within audio tracks in Reason. There are two ways to put an audio file into an audio track.
- Drag an audio file icon from the Finder (e.g., Desktop) into the blank area beneath the list of tracks in the Sequencer. A new audio track appears. (If you prefer, you can drag audio into an existing audio track.) Before you release the mouse button, note the location of the blue plus sign; when you release the mouse, the audio file will be inserted at that measure.
- Give the File > Import Audio File menu command. If an audio track is selected, the audio clip goes into that track. If no audio track is selected, then the audio clip will go into a new audio track. In both cases, the clip will be inserted where the Song Position indicator points.
