Electronic Studio Resources II introduces you to live electronic composition and software design using Max, as well as additional sound processing and synthesis capabilities. We continue our survey of representative electronic music with a focus on pieces for acoustic instruments and electronics, and we explore the history of the electronic medium. We also look at the exciting possibilities afforded by data-driven instruments (devices that send a data stream for interpretation and sound rendering by a computer). The final project is a piece for acoustic or data-driven instrument and electronic sound, implemented in Max.
There is one group class on Tuesdays, 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., with Prof. Gibson. Tutorial sessions of 3 people meet with Prof. Wang. We schedule these 50-minute sessions during the first group meeting. Registration is by permission of the instructor.
